Toku Kuia.

This is my Te Reo Maori, that I have done for this week. I have learn't that, when you go on Maori Dictionary, you can change it to, Te Reo or English. The thing that I like about Te Reo is, that I get to understand what people are saying, like everyday simple sentences.

Nene Spelling Words.

These are our spelling words for this week. I am in the top group. Our group is Nene. I smashed these words out. I aced them and got 20/20. For me, the words were a bit too easy for me. Next week, I hope that I get 20/20 again. Here is a snapshot of my spelling words.

2nd comment of the week!.

Hello, here is another comment that I accomplished. My comment is based around a coloured star. I have commented on Huhana's coloured star. She might not need to work on heaps, but she does need to work on some things. Here is a photo of my finished comment.

Punctuating these stories.

TASK 1:
I click my fingers”, the deep scratchy voice says and everyone around us
dies.” I struggle to focus on the dark imposing figure before me.
Behind theres a crater of shattered paving, as though it has crashed
down on earth from the sky. Concrete dust coats it’s black fully-body armour,
which shimmers slightly as though in a heat haze the face is completely
masked even the eyes and mouth are hidden behind wire mesh the only
chinks in the sleek metal facade The whole being vibrates like its not
completely solid A shiver runs down my spine.

TASK 2:
Once upon a time there was a poor widow who had an only son named Jack,
and a cow named Milky White. And all they had to live on was the milk.
The milk the cow gave every morning, which they carried to the market,
and sold. But one morning Milky White gave no milk, and they didn’t know
what to do.

What shall we do?” What shall we do?'' the widow wringing her hands.

Cheer up mother ill go and get work somewhere,” said Jack.

Weve tried that before, and nobody would take you said the mother.
We must sell Milky White, and with the money start a shop.

All right mother said Jack. Its market day today, and ill soon sell
Milky White and then we'll see what we can do. So he took the cows
halter in his hand and off he started. He hadn't gone far, when he met a funny old looking man.

Oh you look the proper sort of chap to sell cows said the man,
I wonder if you know how many beans make five.

Two in each hand and one in your mouth said Jack as sharp as a needle.

And here they are, the very beans themselves. He went on pulling
out of his pocket a number of strange looking beans. I dont mind
doing the swap with you. Your cow for these beans he said.

Percent Benchamrks.

My struggles with this was working out how to solve the problems, but eventually I had the courage and support from our teacher. Here is a D.L.O and a screencastify that I have managed to finish in the perfect amount of time.

BeFunky💞

Today is a new day. We were experimenting a new site called.... BeFunky. BeFunky, is like a new editing site. You can edit your photos, and heaps more. I have created an image on BeFunky. This photo is based on Nga Manu Korero. I have made a collage, from Nga Manu Korero, and these photos represent, the Haka Powhiri. The photos at the top, are the ones that I used to make this collage (on BeFunky), and the photo down the bottom, is the collage, that I made. Nga Manu Korero is like a speech competition. I saw loads of my whanau enter that competition. Nga Manu Korero was hosted at Northland College. You may like to try BeFunky.

Matariki.

Here is our presentation of our Matariki slides. We had to retell the story of Mitai and his brothers. We have a couple of slides, that you might want to read through. We found out heaps about Mitai and his brothers. When we were reading the story, we found out lots and we would like to share them too. That's why we have been able to share it on a Google Slide.

Zoos and Petting Zoos

Here are 2 photos of my Read theory. Read theory, is just another link for a reading site. So if you get all your questions wrong, you go down one grade. You can go as high as you want in your grads, you just have to earn it. By building your skills, you have to get all your questions right, and you will go up one grad. Here are two quick snapshots of my work. My book that I am reading is Zoos and Petting Zoos.

Nga Manu Korero

Last week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the year eights, had the privilege, to go watch and listen to Nga Manu Korero, at Northland College. I enjoyed listening to all the speeches. Some of the speakers, didn't even know what to say, because they had to read everything off the top of their minds. My favourite speaker was Rangimaria. Why? Because she was talking about, her and her papa working in the gardens at their house. I accomplished my writing, and ended up with, 350 words. Here is my piece of writing.

 Nga Manu Korero

This week, our school had the opportunity to go to Nga Manu Korero. I also didn’t get the opportunity to go to the powhiri, because I was a bit late. I enjoyed listening to the speeches. I was overwhelmed with heaps of the speakers and waiata tautoko. . I didn’t know that Nga Manu Korero was that day. I arrived at school late, so I missed the bus to go to Manu Korero. Nga Manu Korero was hosted at Northland College. I was amazed at the hand gestures that all boys and girls were doing in the speeches. When our class arrived at Northland College, I was so shy. Why? Because there were… THOUSANDS OF SCHOOLS!.

When we were listening to the speeches, I was stunned from one girl. Her name was Rangimaria Waiatarere. She was talking about her and her papa, working in the garden. The thing that I enjoyed about her was her hand gestures and movement, and also, she was very fluent in her Te Reo Maori. Everyone had to turn their devices off, because it caused a distraction. You only had a certain amount of time to stay outside and eat. Whaea Mary, Chrystalle and Mele got locked out, because they stayed outside too long. We went to Manu Korero everyday it was on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I didn’t feel like going too Nga Manu Korero on Friday, but I had already put my hand up and said
“Yes! I'll be here tomorrow”. So I came. Mist began to gather, and it started to get colder and colder.
It felt like my legs were half broken. It was raining, My cousin was in the senior section.
She was talking about ‘Maori has the potential to be realised’ I enjoyed listening to Paula and Rangimaria.
Why? Because they were very awesome. They stayed on their one topic, and always related back to it, if
they went off track. There was one girl, that couldn’t stop laughing when she said her speech.
Her name was Kahutiaterangi. Everytime she made a mistake, she would always laugh.

Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.

Here is my reflection of my maths presentation, and a little screenshot of my mahi. I have tried to ace my goal, and what I mean by that is, I am trying to get up to date. So I can get more points in the system of our team. It's like my friend and I are trying to have a race, at getting everything up to date. We don't even know what we are doing next. Anyways here is my post.

Weekly comment!

This is my weekly comment. I don't have much to write, because it's basically all on my Google Drawing. Anyways, I done my comment on, Kaikohe West School. Room 12. That is a year 5-6 classroom. I don't know what to say because I have done everything on my poster. Well this is what I want to show you all.

Positivity and Negativity!.

WALT: Create a positive digital learning Footprint.

Today Whaea Deborah came into our school, and we done some Positive and Negative things. I learn't something new, and it was that we had to make sure, that we knew what we wanted to post on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Messenger etc. She also taught us that if we take a photo, make sure we don't send it around to too much people, only the people that you trust. If you see a negative comment, leave something positive, so everyone can be happy. When we were doing this Footprint., My buddy and I, didn't find anything challenging. Next time, I would like to ask, if we could do some more, so our whole class can understand what we are actually doing. Here is the poster that we had to work on. Tehanah (My Buddy) Worked on Herman, and I worked on Deborah and Jenna. Here is our work.
